On 27 May 2002, the Central Commission for Scholarly Degrees and Scientific Titles granted the SWPS Faculty of Psychology the power to confer Ph.D. degrees in the humanities, in the field of Psychology. In September 2002, a doctorate program was launched by SWPS in co-operation with the Institute of Psychology, Polish Academy of Sciences, and under the direction of Prof. Tomasz Maruszewski.
