About the program

Our MBA – Innovation and Data Analysis MBA program prepares you to professionally manage small and big teams. It is addressed to managers, administrative employees, entrepreneurs, and individuals who aspire to middle and upper management positions.

Our students gain professional knowledge in the field of management, organizational development, finance, economics, marketing, and learn hot to implement innovations and new technologies. Furthermore, we teach our students how new technologies transform socio-economic processes.

Our MBA program is focused on practical skills, which enable our students to advance their careers in business or public administration, grow their own business or improve their organizations.

The cooperation with the Woodbury School of Business at the Utah Valley University and the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN), helps us to underscore the international character of business, and highlight the significance of information technologies in international business of today.

For whom?

The program is addressed to individuals who currently hold managerial positions or aspire to advance to managerial positions, and who can demonstrate at least three years of professional experience.

The program includes guest lectures, which will be given in English, therefore an appropriate level of language skills is an asset.

Specialized information technology knowledge or skills are not required.

Program

Guest speaker series

Distinguished speakers from both business and academic circles are invited, including former ministers and international scholars and experts. Among topics that have been explored till now there have been subjects related to Artificial Intelligence, digital marketing, transhumanism and robots, data storage and business, globalization and economic growth, international labor market, trends in research and development departments of big companies, and the future of cloud computing.

Organizational Development

This course is taught by lecturers from our Partner – the Woodbury School of Business UVU (USA). It aims at studying current models and methods for organizational change at the individual, group, and organizational levels in order to improve organizational performance. This includes an examination of planned change interventions on processes, culture, individuals, and strategies. Teaching techniques include lecture, class discussions, small group activities or projects, student-learning projects, oral presentations, written reflections and assignments, and scholarly dialogue.

Strategic Positioning

Lecturers from our Partner, the Woodbury School of Business UVU (USA), teach this course. It covers an introduction to modelling and positioning businesses, positioning products in markets and firms in industries, and repositioning capabilities of the firm through Networks & Innovation. Moreover, the student discuss change management, reengineering, and reimagining the firm to innovate and compete.

Technology Commercialization

This course is taught by lecturers from our Partner – the Woodbury School of Business UVU (USA). It aims at equipping the students with recent insights in technology commercialization approaches. The following questions are touched upon: What is innovation? Continuum of Innovation? What creates opportunities? What is the Product Opportunity Gap? The students will acquire understanding of Technology and Idea Assessment, Business Model Canvas and Value Proposition Design.

Leadership in Business

This course is delivered by lecturers from the Woodbury School of Business UVU (USA). It will focus on understanding of individual differences. Various issues will be discussed among which are: motivating behavior - how do needs affect behavior? How do people go about meeting their needs? How do leaders get employees motivated? The class will deal with the concepts of Leadership, Power and Influence and will tackle questions like How is leadership different from management? How do leaders inspire followers? What does it mean Managing Groups and Teams - roles, norms, diversity, goals, conflict. How do you diagnose and solve team problems?

Strategic Thinking

Interpretation of Gravity point - determining the business location – rules and parameters, business experience vs. spatial analyses and map intelligence. What is the Strategic Thinking and what do we do with it? The students will learn strategic skills and get to know entrepreneurship tools and the Strategic Planning Model.

Cloud Computing

Understanding fundamentals Cloud Computing and its basic concepts and terminology, business drivers and benefits. What are the Technology Innovations and Cloud Characteristics and Deployment & Delivery Models. The students will learn risks and challenges in cloud computing, cloud concepts and business use cases.

Decision Making

What is individual decision making? What biases and cognitive traps people are prone to get caught into. Is group decision making superior to individual deliberation? The students will gain insights in sources of motivation, game theoretical approaches to conflict situations, Prospect theory, and irrationality vs. rationality models. Social roles, prejudices and stereotypes, along with authority influences will also be discussed.

Global Business and Financial Institutions

Financial markets and institutions play an important role in the growth and development of economies and in progress and expansion of global businesses. The course will examine the structure of international capital markets, the instruments traded in those markets, and the institutions that play key roles. Additionally, the course will explore functions of financial institutions and the type of services offered by financial institutions.

Data Analysis

The course will examine the quality improvement and planning, SPC tools such as the word on process capability and six sigma along with management and planning tools. This course will deal with data mining for businesses as unsupervised learning and supervised learning. Data analysis will be taught by examples.

Data and Systems Security

This course is designed to discuss data and systems security. The objective is to understand fundamentals and basic principles of information protection as well as recognize the need for data security. Topics in this class could be divided into four sections: general information security overview, risk management, compliance, and technical security aspects. Topic to be covered include but are not limited to malware, forensic, APT, risk assessment, cloud computing, cryptography, modern threats and vulnerabilities, wireless, data leakage prevention, BCP/DRP, compliance management, strategies and tactics for data and systems security, economical aspects of information security. The class will handle the concept of data protection in business related systems – the students should get familiar with all real life issues they could face during their work activities.

Business, Politics and Communication

The course discusses such topics as business and political communication, leadership skills, and psychology of communication. The students will discuss business and politics in ONE public sphere and business leadership and communication in crisis situation. What can we say about communicating “brutal” decisions? What are communication and leadership in public sphere? Business success and communication failure, are they mutually exclusive to could come out together?

Project Management

Managing successful projects: (MSP®)Introduction and context. Management products of Cabinet Office and the place of MSP® in it. The role of project and programme management in strategic and operational management. Principles, processes and governance themes in MSP®. Identifying and understanding project processes. The students will acquire knowledge and competencies related to Waterfall, Agile and Lean approaches and will be able to analyze them and point out their strengths and weaknesses.

Corporate Finance

The course will aim at providing sound theoretical background and conceptual understanding as well as practical knowledge and skills with respect to corporate financial analysis and corporate finance rules. During the lectures the students will discuss financial market structure, time value of money, financial planning, external financing and growth. They will learn what the working capital and short term planning is and will gain insights in working capital, cash cycle, inventory and cash management, and credit and collection Management.

Managerial Economics

The course is designed to introduce students to key concepts and models in managerial economics like analysis of the market, demand and supply determinants, market equilibrium, elasticity of demand and supply. Theory of consumption and production, economic unit in different market models will be dealt with too. Interpretation of national accounts and macroeconomic variables will follow together with examination of economic policies and economic conditions of companies and households.

Marketing and New Technologies

Digitalization, digital transformation, innovation in services and products are changing the way we market products and services. This course has the purpose of providing students with an overview of theoretical models as well as the practical tools needed to embrace marketing in a digital world. The course relies on both scholar publications and real life cases from well-known (digital) companies. Among the topics discussed are the following: the service dominant logic, co-creation and the new consumer decision journey, growth hacking and a special case study.

Human Resource Management

The course discusses such topics as definitions of HRM and its history, HRM and organizational strategy, and Theory X & Theory Y: two types of managers. It will also cover staffing and training & development which includes job specifications and job evaluations, hiring process & recruitment methods and training needs in an organization. This course aims at providing students with understanding of performance appraisals, benefits and compensation approaches, traits, behaviors, results, 360 feedback, management by objective, and job dissatisfaction. Among the topics discussed are the following: international workforce - different types of international employees, international employment law, developing global competencies and compensation problems with a global workforce.

MBA Seminar

How to write the final MBA Business Project? What are the editorial requirements? What topics are encouraged? What are differences between descriptive projects, analytic ones and case-based projects? What is the most preferable timetable for writing an MBA Business Project? How is the Project defense organized? How much does the grade for the Project weigh in the overall grade? Consultations and analysis of individual projects.

Class schedule

The program consists of two semesters, in total 185 teaching hours, provided in the form of lectures, seminars, and workshops, which are carried out simultaneously onsite and online. Classes take place at the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN).

Teaching modules are scheduled in October, January, April, and June. Each module consists of five consecutive days of classes, which begin on Wednesday and end on Sunday.

The main language of instruction is Polish, however, the program also includes four lectures given in English. There might also be an opportunity for additional guest lectures in English, therefore some proficiency in English is an asset. Sample Module Schedule.

The Center for Professional Education reserves the right to make necessary changes concerning the program, the teaching staff, and the mode of class delivery, should important reasons arise.

Program completion requirements

  • To successfully complete the program you must:
  • Write a final thesis - MBA Business Project
  • Defend your written thesis within six (6) months of the program completion.

Certificate

A certificate (świadectwo ukończenia studiów podyplomowych) confirming a successful completion of the graduate certificate program at SWPS University, and a diploma listing your final grade and the names of our program partners, certified by the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences (PAN) and the Woodbury School of Business of Utah Valley University, in the United States.

Candidates should pay the tuition fee to their individual accounts. Account numbers are provided on the Virtual University Platform.
